The Victoria Racing Club has today showcased Flemington’s ultimate general admission playground The Park, providing a sneak peek into the Melbourne Cup Carnival’s must-visit destination for fashionistas, music lovers and foodies.

VRC Chief Executive Officer Steve Rosich kicked off proceedings with an overview of the space and why it is the perfect playground during Cup Week before Melbourne Cup Carnival Fashions on the Field Host and TV personality Brihony Dawson guided media through The Park entertainment precinct.

“The Park, spread over 10,000 square metres is the ultimate fun and free destination for all racegoers and provides the perfect playground for those who love great fashion, food and world class entertainment,” Mr Rosich said.

“The Cup Week entertainment schedule is the best we have ever had and includes internationally renowned music acts including British DJ Joel Corry, THE CORRS, Jon Stevens, Rogue Traders, Timmy Trumpet, Hot Dub Machine, Mel Hall and Melbourne’s own Client Liaison.

“The food and drink offer is also a Park highlight featuring pop-ups from Crown Melbourne restaurants and the VRC’s new and exclusive The Ranch.  Our valued partners including Penfolds, Furphy, Smirnoff, St Remio and TAB lead the activations in the precinct topping off what will be a wonderful experience for all.”

The tour included the first look at the brand new fashion garden, home to the Melbourne Cup Carnival Fashions on the Field Competition, which this year saw the competition extended to welcome international entrants as well as an incredible prize pool of over $350,000 on offer.

Melbourne Cup Carnival Ambassador Georgina Burke added to the fashion glamour in The Park and is thrilled to be attending Flemington for the first time and to be judging Fashions on the Field.

“This is my first-time trackside at Flemington and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to witness first-hand the incredible style and energy of Cup Week and I can’t wait to see what the entrants bring to this hotly contested competition,” Ms Burke said.

Following the fashion experience media then moved through the Beer Garden where VRC sponsors showcased their pop ups including a Penfolds Rose and Croquet playing field, Furphy Container and Beer Truck, Smirnoff Pop-up bar, a Coffee Caravan serving St Remio coffee and the TAB Lobby.

The tour then moved into the foodie section of The Park highlighting The Park’s scrumptious food offerings including a new and exclusive Flemington pop-up The Ranch, as well as Crown Melbourne restaurants Ging Thai and Petisco which served up delicious treats to taste test.

To conclude media journeyed to the The Park Live Stage, where DJ Emma Peters showcased the Park party and unveil where global headline artists will perform across Cup Week.  Iconic Australian duo Client Liaison then took to the stage to chat with Brihony and discuss what they have install for their highly anticipated performance on Penfolds Victoria Derby Day.
