Raising the curtain on this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival champions.
TAB Turnbull Stakes Day is considered one of the most reliable predictors of horses to watch during the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Boasting more than $3.4 million in prizemoney, its all-black type race schedule features some of the finest thoroughbreds racing in Australia.
The Group 1 TAB Turnbull Stakes is the first feature 2000m race of spring, with $1 million on offer. It is complemented by the Group 3 Lexus Bart Cummings (2500m) with $750,000 in prizemoney and a highly-sought after golden ticket into the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
This fine day of racing also includes the $300,000 Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1100m) as a warm up to the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on Penfolds Victoria Derby Day. Also on the card is the $300,000 TAB Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) for three-year-old fillies and the $300,000 Furphy Rose of Kingston Stakes (1400m) for mares.
Together with three important Listed races, the TAB Turnbull Stakes Day card offers valuable insight into the Melbourne Cup Carnival feature races.
Flemington, as always, has plenty of great vantage points to watch all the action on the track. Settle into comfy lounges for a cold beer at Saintly Place Sports Bar with billiards, foosball and access to the Winning Post. For a great open-air venue, head to the Front Lawn with umbrellas and live music.
The stylish spring in The Roof Garden is the place to be for VRC members, while the Pamper Lounge in The Atrium helps you keep your look on point all day. Our younger racegoers are not forgotten either, with plenty of family-friendly fun.
MELBOURNE ROYAL SHOW TRAFFIC CONGESTION
Due to the Melbourne Royal Show, this Saturday we are expecting heavy traffic congestion around Flemington racecourse which may cause significant delays accessing car parking at Flemington, including the members car park. If driving to Flemington, please access via Flemington Drive and Members Drive. Metro trains have advised extra arrivals and departures for those travelling by train. Adorned in flowers and greenery, the Rooftop offers VRC members and guests spectacular views, tempting spring menu and cocktails, and live music from resident DJ, John Course, from Race 7 spinning tunes past the last!
The Members Lawn
There will be plenty to keep our pint-sized punters entertained on the Members Lawn on Turnbull Stakes Day with family-friendly activities for children of all ages.
Extended hours
With extended hours and live musical entertainment after the last means members will be able to enjoy the festivities of the day long past the last with the Piano Man in the G.H.Mumm Champagne Bar and Resident DJ John Course in The Roof Garden.
